EWR crashpads

You dont realize how lucky you are to be IAH based on the Saab, the Q world is completely different. The only reason I would come up to the Q is if I lived up here (and don't count on commuting on your own plane, because CAL changes up the destinations and flip flops with XE all the time, especially the longer flights like CMH). Your gonna be flyin a lot bigger plane for the same money, and your just missing out on flight time while you transition. I would kill to be on the Saab, I've tried so many times to no avail.

Since the damage is done and you ARE transitioning here is a list to start with.

Blocked in- lots of people sharing a few small rooms will cost you around 275 I think per month with a shuttle that runs once or twice an hour

Marias- also referred to as "club" marias. If you want to stay up late and play wii and slam down beers with frequent field trips to the bars with all your best buds this is the place to be. Cost around 250-275 and is like the blocked in except it is half of the owners house (duplex) and the shuttle (the owner) runs on demand.

Wyndham- usually cost around 150 per month. You use the wyndham shuttle and you share one hotel room with I believe 8 guys or so and there is a common room.

MPG-very low key, you have your own room, mostly cal guys and transportation needs to be explained to you as there is a trick to it. Cost 200 bucks. PM me for info on this one.

You could also try commuterlounge.com. $200 a month for a bunk bed plus a small fee for each trip to or from the airport.

I'm at Maria's (only 3 or 4 nights a month, max) and I love it. The partying he refers to is people on reserve as they only have 2 days off a week, fully uncommutable both ends, so they stay there on their days off a lot. It's $250 a month and Maria is like a second mom. Don't get the wrong impression about drinking or anything, it happens, but mainly at bars and people are aware of drinking time limits, etc. and realize that we are trying to be as professional as possible as we ramp up for our contract. Also, don't come to the Q!!! Especially if your senior to me!!!

Ok... From what some people told me Marias is a good place. As for me going to the q i'm gonna be living in CMH and think it would be an easier commute for the time being. L-16, when were you hired? Anyways thanks for the info I'll be seeing y'all soon.

I rocked the Blocked Inn up in the apartments for about a year.

Clean rooms, cool guys in my apartment, transportation twice an hour that ran like clockwork most of the time.

I know that you are junior to me so welcome aboard, glad to have you!

As for Marias, again...it is the place to be...if you like a good time and are looking for a social life while at the crashpad. I am looking for neither when I am at "work".

Brew...what's up with that? You don't like class 1 Navigation no more? The smell of SAAB ass in the morning? What? :sarcasm:

Good luck in class. Where are they having class...Memphis?

LOL, well... The saab ass is amazing and I'm sure I'll miss that, Not. But pretty excited that I don't have to go through another Summer in IAH on the Saab. Training is in Memphis now. No more Manassas and Capt American van. LOL

If they put you in the same hotel as our guys in training....bring self defense.

Pm me if you want maria's number. We used to do a lot of CMH (including 32 hour overnights) and now we are down to 1 flight a day, during the afternoon I believe. There are some CAl mainline and Express jumpseaters, including 1 Colgan jumpseater that lives there and commutes to EWR. Will you hold a line in EWR?

That would be funny if the Colgan Van ended up in Memphis. That thing just wont die. The transmission has been slipping, caughing and farting for over a year.

Great! LOL, its the Courtyard Marriott across from the training center, not sure if thats by you guys or not but thanks for the heads up. :laff:

That's where they put the FAs up. It's better than the Homestead (aka the "Homeboy") or the Holiday Inn Select. You can walk to training if ya want. Heck, if you want to save money, you can probably buy sandwich stuff and walk back to the hotel for lunch instead of over to Subway.

Will you hold a line in EWR?

You can probably figure this out yourself.

Look at the seniority list and try to find someone with a last name that looks similar to his screen name.

Or..even easier look at the crew page under Q400 awards and you will see him listed.
