Can't stand DEN. Most afternoons that damn tempo... TSRAGS variable winds at 25kts gusts to 35.
On a good day from the east I plan for at least a 150nm reroute taking me west to BFF or MBW.

At my current carrier they like to carry a VERY distant alternate and no less than 1 hour of hold on those days. It's not nearly the headache it was at the regionals. On a good day from the east I plan for at least a 150nm reroute taking me west to BFF or MBW.
When you receive a pass down with the following comments, it helps formulate an opinion:
”I filed him on an airway that was closed and he just took off, so they’ll reroute him someway. He also has plenty of fuel.” - That reroute lead to him being at min-fuel.
Or...
”I don’t know the names of the enroute airports, I just let the system choose it, but I can point to where they are on the map.”
Or...
”I didn’t give them any additional fuel going to Florida in the summertime because the TAF says VCTS, which means they’re within 5nm but will not impact the airport.” - Four diversions later...
“Uhh Captain were up against max take off weight, you got any orientals on there we can use as half weights?”“Captain there’s a 6 inch gap in the weather ahead, you’re differently going to make it through.”
I understand, TAFs are off often, especially flying over the Pacific your TAF will change overtime, that's NWS and EWINS so the dispatcher needs to use a few different tool when detirmening if altn is needed or not, and not just look at the current TAF at dispatch.... However I don't understand why were you landing with just a small amount of fuel, especially to a point where needed to declear min-fuel with ATC? Don't see how this has anything to do with a TAF being produced by EWINS... Was your landing fuel looking good at POR? Did you overburn that much between POR and Destination? ... Or because of bad WX did you have to hold at your destination? Don't understand what happened there?
Lol. What what what?“Uhh Captain were up against max take off weight, you got any orientals on there we can use as half weights?”
Just give them the dirty thirty. I joke, but every time I've done it I've been thanked for giving them a "good fuel load" so if they're happy I'm happy I suppose. Can't stand DEN. Most afternoons that damn tempo... TSRAGS variable winds at 25kts gusts to 35.
No response as CA decides, rightly so, that the dispatcher is incompetent and stops responding. Said dispatcher later places their handgun on their desk as they are rummaging through their backpack.“Captain there’s a 6 inch gap in the weather ahead, you’re differently going to make it through.”
Seems like we’ve worked with the same folk.No response as CA decides, rightly so, that the dispatcher is incompetent and stops responding. Said dispatcher later places their handgun on their desk as they are rummaging through their backpack.
I'd say it's rather easy to spot the bad dispatchers.

so how does one not be a bad dispatcher? What are some signs to look out for to tell who the bad dispatchers are?
They are retired now, so I've heard. Thankfully.Seems like we’ve worked with the same folk.
