Everything Explained For the Professional Pilot

Yah, it seems most ebooks cost LESS than their print versions. Maybe Richie didn't get the memo.

That said, if it includes free updates....... Lemme check..... Doesn't say in the App Store. But yeah, if its free updates it would take the sting out of it a bit.

"Everything Explained"

An app. Available to purchase on iTunes.

That's great, feel free to discuss.

But General Topics is for directly aviation related topics. Always has been. Threads not directly aviation related are moved to the Lav. No need to be offended.

Considering myself and many other pilots use this book as a primary reference for the FARs, I would argue that it is defiantly aviation related.

However I bow to the will of the Mods.

It's basically the equivalent to "How to fly airplanes: For dummies."

The full title is "Everything Explained For The Professional Pilot."

It's an FAR and AIM reference book, and does a much better job of explaining the rules than the raw FAR's do.

Richie's book is pretty awesome, especially for a dumb guy like me, but I FIND the LAYOUT to be pretty damn DISTRACTING at TIMES.

I dont own a copy. Have read all the great reviews and every time I'm in the local pilot shop I pick it up and think "I should really buy this since everyone says its so damn amazing"... but then I open it, and my eyes are attacked by all the obnoxious font and layout, and I get a migraine, and I drop the book on the floor and walk out. Maybe someday...

Probably not very good for a guy like you, judging from your posts.

Yes, indeed. The FULL TITLE would have been quite helpful.

I don't always have time to click on every link posted in every thread. I offered an explanation of why I moved it. Perhaps more than a "Um What?" would have been more helpful of a reply....

I will put it back in GT, as it is aviation related.

Sorry! I had figured the book was ubiquitous enough that everyone would know what I was talking about. It certainly gets mentioned enough.

Even the paperback version of the book is pricey. It's like 55 bucks brand new. It's worth it in my opinion, but neither option (book or app) is cheap.

I never found it very useful and a PDF with full text search of the FAR/AIM was always quicker at finding what I needed. Also, as Jordan said, the text is distracting as hell. I DID find The Turbine Pilot's Flight Manual to be a VERY useful introduction to more advanced aircraft when I was a CFI trying to wrap my head around pneumatics and APUs.
