Ever heard of North American Airlines?

Hey JC'ers! So I was doing my hourly monster.com search and suddenly North American Airlines comes up for just about every job in the aviation industry. I know they are based out of JFK and they fly to Latin America, but does anyone have any or know of information about them.
Should I interview for the Ops. Controller or the Crew Scheduling job?

I saw a couple of their Boeings parked near the international terminal in JFK as we were taxiing by the past couple of days. I've also seen them in other airports around the country lately (I like their paint job). The Captain I was flying with said he thinks they do a lot of D.O.D. troup carrying overseas. I've also heard they do other charters (like vacation packages charters, or something to that effect). That's about all I've heard. Don't they have a web site that you could look up?
As far as which job to go for...it all depends on what you want to do.

I actually got some more info on them. The Bush-Cheney 2000 campaign charted them to fly 'em around the country. And yes they do a lot of D.O.D. work and a lot of charters.

The reason why I asked is because they are really offering a lot of different types of jobs to work there. Not sure if they're expanding or what. I figured someone on this site knows the nitty gritty about them and thier operation. I mean on thier website they are advertising that they have jobs for those looking to enter the aviation industry w/no prior aviation experience, I'm not sure whether to be excited or suspicious.

Yup, last time I checked they only had two aircraft, a 757 and an 737 doing charter work, actually one of their pilots is on pilotmentornetwork.com What's really weird though is a friend gave me NAA 737 model as a going away present, I seems pretty rare that he'd get an model of a plane from a 2 aircraft airline with only one 737!

I've never seen their 73's anywhere, but I could swear the planes in JFK I saw were 767's. I've seen their 75's around(or as you are saying their "one" 757 (it sure gets around for only one aircraft). Are you sure about only two aircraft in the company? That doesn't seem right.

Our Growth
Our dedicated and experienced cadre of aviation professionals has grown our airline from a single aircraft and 40 employees in 1990 to a fleet of nine aircraft and over 600 employees today.

From the North American Airlines website.

My favorite airline in the whole wide world!!!! Only flown once, but is was a flight OUT of a certain place in the Middle East. There could have been zero flight attendents and it still would be my favorite flight ever!!!!

>and it still would be my favorite flight ever!!!!

Why?

Hum upto 9 now huh? Well as I said when I checked last it was 2 and that was probably 2 years ago.

I left a hostile country in it

Im from Guyana South America, and when I was there in March, I saw one of their airplanes, I believe it was from JFK and they go to Guyana regularly.

I have seen some North American planes in ATL. It was a 767-300. They are usually here like once a week. I am sure its a international charter.

North American Airlines 2002 Statistics:

411,000 Passengers
863,604,000 RPMs
63.9 percent load factor
Four 757-200s, leased, with Rolls Royce engines
Two 767-300ERs, leads, with GE engines
One 737-800, leased

My mentor from piltmentornetwork.com works for NAA. I didnt know they had a 737. I know they operate 75's and 76's. They do a lot of work for charters and the military like someone mentioned earlier. I think they have a second base in Oakland,ca. They seem like an interesting company to work for, since they are always going to new places. If you have any specific questions about them, i can try and get you answers.

They must be increasing their numbers for the busier summer season. The holiday charter flights will increase, and their website shows an increase in scheduled flights as well. My best guess is a mix of expansion and extra summer work. Then come the end of the summer season I guess they will get rid of anyone who doesn't meet their standards. Just a guess but that's what I'd do if I were them. Virgin Atlantic were doing the same recently, vacancies all over the place, across the board from engineering, maintenance to engineering scheduling and spare maintenance parts purchasing /stock control / management posts, as well as just about everything else in Ops. Virgin then announced expansion plans and increased summer operations. I'm sure they will do the same thing come the autumn.

i am in the navy, and I flew with NAA to bahrain and back.very good service, good food,I actually had to tell them to stop bringing me food and snacks.real silverware! The best airline I have ever flown with.I give them an A+
