Does the actual event itself cost money or are the only expenses hotel/travel/dining?

Last year there was a $20 charge and that helped to cover some of the costs associated with the event. I imagine there will be a similar fee this year. A couple of years ago, there was a number of no shows and the fee helps to cover any costs if someone confirms and then doesn't show.

last year, the $20 covered food/drinks but really maybe only a quarter of the suite cost. So we're going to up it to $30 to try and even things out more.

I bet I'll have to pay for F_F again! :sarcasm: (assuming he shows)

Does anyone know of any financing options for NJC? I’ve looked into SLM and Key Bank, but they will only lend money for networking functions affiliated with a part 141 program. There’s always Pilot Finance, but the interest rates are way too high. Do you think I should save up for a few years and pay for a NJC event debt free or is it worth it to go into debt for one of these things?

Okay, now where’s the sarcasm button….

i got it for ya! :)

what you really should do is start saving about $50 a month or so right now (best time to start saving would have been in january, so you've got some months to catch up on) and by the time august/september come around, you'd have enough to get the flight and could put the hotel on credit. it's a good savings learning technique! :)

Ah good tip! Thanks! I've been meaning to go to a JC event for a few years now. Every year something comes up. I actually have enough saved up for a weekend trip to Las Vegas. I just have to try to not spend it on Cessna 150 rental. Discipline!
