Does completing an ETOPS course actually help one stand out more to a major airline, or is it just a waste of hundreds of dollars?

Does it make you stand out? Idk probably not, but I did it.
Check out a website called Udemy, I think I paid $30 to get a certificate and be able to put it on my resume.

man, Udemy does offer a lot…never knew they offered that nor did I think to look either…use them for other things.

As to what one said, ETOPs really isn’t that difficult, it’s a little more complex and being on top of NOTAMs and ATC.

I teach ETOPS at my shop, don't waste your time and money. The airline will teach you what you need to know the way they do ETOPS and is required by the aircraft they operate.

Plus,. without actual experience DXing ETOPS, as far as I'm concerned it would be meaningless on a resume.

I took the Advanced International Flight Planning and ETOPS courses when I got my license...I think there was some good information presented, but I was so burned out from the regular course that I didn't absorb it well. If I had it to do over again, I would have come back and taken them at a later date. And as has already been mentioned, if you work for an airline that does ETOPS/international flights, they will train you on their way of doing things.
