Erau instructor hiring?

This just came up as a rumor as I was talking to a fellow CFI. Has Embry bought a bunch of DA-42s with the IO-360s? Are they looking for more CFI/IIs

Anyone have any info?

Thanks.

Last time I heard from friends down there, they have let go 70 instructors, most whom were part time instructors. Those who were hired were former alumni and Furloughed pilots. I'm 99% sure the DA-42's were exchanged back for Seminoles since Thierlot is no longer producing engines. Also talks about returning some of the 172SP's since such few students can get a loan to fly.

Yup, I know some guys that got let go. I understood that this summer ERAU was to start getting the new DA-42 with IO-360's. In fact, I think they've got one right now, not 100% sure on that though

70 in the hiring pool is the last I heard from another thread. By the way training on that airplane with 6 levers instead of two would be a pain. I guess that you'd just get used to it though.

Anyways, I was just wondering as I'm a CFI just looking for a job in the Utah area and cant find anything. It would be a hard move with a wife thats 15 weeks pregnant, finding decent pay, and health ins.

Well the ones let go are from the Daytona Beach Campus, I can't really say what is going on with the Prescott, AZ campus. Pay isn't the greatest, but at least there is a constant stream of students. When I worked Part-time at ERAU (Daytona), we didn't get the benefits the full time instructors get. I can exactly say what the QOL would be, or what the benefit package contained. It wouldn't hurt to submit a resume, and see what happens.

I too am anxious for them to start hiring again. I keep hearing rumors about it happening sometime this summer, most likely toward the end, but that's just speculation. What I can confirm is the DA42 which I see all the time since it is 2 hangars down from where I work and as much time as I see them spending on it, it doesn't get to fly very often.
