ERAU - CAPT. Program - Mass Email

550 Hours???? dang, I sure don't wanna be a pax on that airplane! I like the fact that pilots have to get a ton of hours to fly.. that's where the experience of handling emergency situations comes in handy! I'd rather pay a chunk of money for a ticket where I know the pilots have a lot of experience vs someone who bypassed all the minimums to get in the right seat!

Ah, but that's the genius of CAPT...in the new world of space travel, they'll be the ONLYones rated to fly, so you won't even have a choice!

I tought CAPT was to get you in the left seat???

Well it says it gets you on the left so it gets you all the way there. I really want to see someone do this to see what happens [evil laugh]

because they are trained so well, being a CFI would just be a waste of time, CAPT graduates are SO GOOD they go directly to the left seat of a MD-90 upon graduation completely bypassing all the qualified pilots working their way up. There is no need to ever become a lowly first officer either because you're trained to Captain standards from day one!

btw- your gonna need a MD-90 Captain job to pay off that HUGE loan

This all sounds great for someone with the money and no experience, but what about the unions? Are they really going to allow seniority skipping? If so, then why pay dues? If not, then this sounds like a false advertisement lawsuit waiting to happen.

So, let's see. The minimums are around 1,000 for most places, right? Whatcha gonna do with that fancy CAPT certificate when you're 450 hours short?

Oh, that's EASY, Tony! Just tell them "I'm from Embry-Riddle. I have been ordained by God to fly your airplanes. Bow before me."

You are obvisouly totally un-informed.

If you would just think about it for a min. the answer would be as plain as my beer belly.

After graduation, you will need at least 450 hrs to get to the min. 1000 hrs.so,
You get 80 of your closest frends/pilots charter an MD80 or whatever for 451 hrs[add that one just to make sure you have enough time]

At what $4000.00 per hr? x 451=2,029,500.00

Divide by 80 = 25,378.00

All people aboard log the time using some flaw in the faa rules

TOTAL cost to be "highly qualified" since the time is put to such good use, $125000.00

NOW YOU BE A PILOT [jet type CAPT ]

MD-90

[/ QUOTE ]

correct me if I'm wrong but arent there only about 15 MD-90s operating in the United States.

[/ QUOTE ]

And your point is? The type is good on over 2000+ airframes, from the DC-9 through the Boeing 717.

I was just joking, they don't really say that

If I remember correctly from earlier posts along this line it is more of a tpye rating thing. If you were an MD90 captain that would be the same as MD80, etc... Captain. Anyone else????

[/ QUOTE ]

Technically speaking, you're just a DC9 captain.

[ QUOTE ]
maybe.. but i thought you had to go from right to left first?!

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope! At least not to get a type rating.
