How hard and fast is the rule requiring a drivers license? For various reasons, I've never learned how.

The Envoy SOC like most dispatch offices isnt walkable from accomodations that a new Envoy dispatcher can afford. DFW area in general isnt walkable. Ubers and instacart add up on regional on a regional wage.

As a junior dispatcher at a regional, you will likely have little to no control over your schedule and will get stuck with shifts that are difficult to get to and from without a car. 3AM and 4AM starts are common.

This job is very difficult if you cant drive and dont have a car.

Unless you work for Jetblue in NYC where you can get to their office reliably by public transport or walking as well as live locally without a car, most airlines whether regional or major will be tough without a car.

At least here in DFW area, there are very few AA, SWA or ENY dispatchers that dont have a car and dont drive themselves to work.

Its probably rare for the hiring people at any of the DFW airlines to see a candidate without a drivers license. It doesnt mean you cant get hired. But at all three it is likely to generate questions of how you will get to work and how reliable you will be. Attendance and punctuality are kind of a big thing in the airline world.

Its not impossible to do the job and not drive but there will be big sacrifices needed to make it work.
 
I do have to say that there are places to rent and possibly have roomates at SKW. Take a look at where the headquarters are on google maps in relation to apartment complexes. and rental homes.
