Enlightening engine out

Sometimes, while flying, I have an opportunity to take 3 minutes for myself. I sometimes decide to stay current on emergency/abnormal ops, the most common being engine out procedures,

Today while climbing out at max torque, not limited to temp, I randomly pulled an engine. I have never experienced such a yaw/rolling tendency to this extent before. It was a good reminder as to what can happen at Vyse on takeoff and how violent a catastrophic failure can be.

Word to those learning their multi skills:

find a good instructor to have you go through the most significant engine loss recovery you can without compromising your safety.

I can't tell you how far out my ball was before recovery. It was, as I stated, enlightening.

Although, I still find it funny that no one is pulling my engine (so there is no guessing as to which it is) and I still surprise myself. I kinda go zen before doing it so that I don't know what I'm gonna do before I do it (safely of course)

You blew up a PT-6 already? :)

Maybe I should actually read before posting.

It does help.

After a few beers, reading comprehension goes out the window.

I pulled my own engine, no over temp/ over torque situation; just surprised myself with the loss of directional control while flying over Vmc.

I did all of my SD3 training in the only simulator in the world in LGA.

When I did my ATP check ride in the actual SD3, it was with a "new" check airman who was being observed by a fed in the jump seat.

For the V1 cut my new check airman did not simulate zero thrust after I called to confirm auto feather nor did he set it after I called for it. I don't know if it was a mental block brain fart or what but I took the throttles and set it myself because it was obviously going bad very quickly. V2 + 10 knots it was still rolling . Once I set zero thrust it was back to normal and the fed tapped me on the shoulder and grinned with a thumbs up. Poor guy.

The VMC demo I did when I got my multi in a Seminole was ZzzZZz compared to actually having that feeling of no control so low to the ground. I wish in the simulator I did more V1 cuts without the auto feather system functioning because its a doozy.
