Endeavor votes to remove PAFCA

Technically that is an estimate at this point of i am not mistaken. No Union means no collective bargaining which means each individual dispatcher is able to negotiate his own salary.

From what I was told, the numbers go into effect next pay period.

According to the document I got when I updated the spreadsheet, that pay is in effect now. It's not an estimate, t's not next year, it's not a dream. It became effective April 14 and will be reflected on the May 7th paycheck. Additionally, it says they will review the pay scale at the end of each year and adjust it to remain competitive, so there is that. I guess kicking the union out wasn't such a bad idea after all.

Congrats 9E.

There is no guarantee the company will review on time or adjust correctly. There is no leverage forcing the company into it.

I think it shows that the company is willing to work with the group and make this a good place to work. They gave us a pretty good raise and they changed the time it takes to top out from 18 years to 11 years. They didn't waste time getting the committee in order and they implemented all the changes immediately.

I know pay raises are nice, but the company can also now make negative arbitrary changes immediately. Having experienced one of these at my first airline (company got rid of sick leave with no notice and replaced it with a "paid time off" feature that was basically a couple of extra vacation days) I would rather have a contract in place protecting my rights as an employee. I'm glad management is treating everyone well there for now, but if things ever go south (for whatever reason) pay cuts can be instituted with no negotiations or vote...and people can be laid off out of seniority order, if management chooses to do so.

These issues mean more to someone at an airline that is planning to be there long term. Endeavor over the past 15-20 years turns over 80-90% of the dispatch group within 5 years. Yes, management may at some point make negative changes that a union contract would have protected but for an employee that already has his foot out the door, you can put up with these things for the short time you are there.

Not many airlines have a set up where dispatchers are given less compensation than crew scheduling. When non-union employees keep getting raises and you stay the same, it makes going that route seem a better option.
