Job Description:
Emirates - Seeking First Officers

Emirates employs highly skilled and successful Flight Deck Crew from around the world. We are currently recruiting experienced and technically proficient First Officers to fly our extensive international route network. The First Officer position offers an exceptional opportunity for ambitious pilots to develop their career on one of the youngest high-tech fleets, with one of the fastest growing and most profitable airlines in the world.

We also offer job security as well as a competitive package and many lifestyle benefits. In addition to a competitive salary and the opportunity to live in one of the world’s most attractive cosmopolitan destinations, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes accommodation and utilities support, health and life insurance, excellent end-of-service benefits, generous staff travel access for family members and educational support for children (studying in Dubai or overseas).

Emirates’ order of US$ 9.7 billion was the largest to date for the Boeing 777 family of aircraft. Delivery of the 24 B777-300ERs, 10 B777-200LR Worldliners and eight B777 freighters began last year and has helped to meet the increasing demand to our current destinations in over 60 countries. In addition, Emirates has taken delivery of its 6 out of 58 A380s orders, 30 expected to be delivered by December 2012. These new aircraft will also help us explore exciting new destinations on every continent.

To apply to Emirates, candidates must have a minimum of 4000 total and 2000 multi-engine jet hours (preferably with MTOW of >55t), ICAO ATPL and ICAO English level (4 or above).

I guess it's a pipe dream of mines that they would change the jet time to just turbine time. :)

If it makes ya feel better, my CRJ is >55K. Well, it COULD be, but it would never get off the ground. :)

They've been quietly taking applications for a while, but I've heard recently they might start hiring in full swing again. I guess with oil prices going back up, this isn't a huge shocker.....

I'm still short on the turbine time, but I'll throw my hat in the rings anyways once I get a little more.

And 55 tonnes is 121,000 lbs.

(1 tonne = 1000 kg = 2200 lbs)

Yes, but if you do the application, at the "multi jet" section it has a drop down box to select the jet MTOW. If below the 55T, there is an option for the CRJ. I know when Emirates was hiring back a few years ago, they hired several guys from Jazz. Hopefully more of our pilots apply so I can move up some numbers ;)

They hired a handful from Pinnacle too. but thats because everyone and their mom was hiring. People were leaving to SW, DL, NW, UA, etc..Now that they are one of the few to be hiring, they can be a lot more picky. My guess is, this time around its gonna take more than just 4,000tt and CRJ time.

there are a lot more qualified pilots instead of us rj drivers. Many A320, B737 rated with time pilots are out of work in Europe. There are a lot of expat pilots that left and been let go from India that have time in 777s..

All I am saying, don't get your hopes to high..

on the other hand try other airlines in the area that are looking.. royal jordanian, jazeera, air arabia, flydubai.. etc.

Hiring numbers this year were only going to be 48, but it's now been bumped up significantly. Last I heard was closer to 200, with a chance of 250.

There actually aren't as many applicants as some would think, but they are still being somewhat picky. The time in aircraft over 55 tonnes is the real sticking point. That now eliminates the regional pilots

I lobbied for many years to get the airline to start hiring regional pilots. When they finally started the results were somewhat disappointing. There was a high enough percentage that had significant difficulty in training that they've now all been painted with the same brush. It's too bad really because there are quite a few who are real good pilots and have been quite successful at the airline.

Policies like this always have a component of supply and demand so when the supply drops or the demand goes way up we might see a change again. I've been hearing that they are already thinking about a drop to 1000 hours in aircraft over 55 tonnes from the current 2000. At least that is a move in the right direction.

There is a lot of complaining on the various message boards by current EK pilots. Some of it is certainly warranted, but it is still a good job when compared to other jobs out there. It certainly would be better to have a career at Fedex, UPS, and SWA among other but we don't always get that choice and EK is a reasonable place to work for a few years or more.
