Emirates Airlines

727 makes the 55kg but do the 737s? I imagine the later ones do, but not sure about the -100 and -200s?

A CX pilot told me last year that Emirate was parking planes because they didnt have enough crews. Has anyone else heard this?

I doubt it, Emirates has their own training center and has no problems attracting pilots from around the world. Now, if you told me airlines in India are parking planes dues to lack of crews, now that I can believe.

Only if their max ramp weight was over 121,253 Lbs. I know the -300s and above all do, but I never flew the -200. A guy with 727 and 737-200 time from USAirways just got an interview.

The comment about EK not recognizing the RJ is not exactly correct. You will not get an interview with just RJ time, but as soon as you have a few hundred hours in something bigger that RJ time does count towards the 2000 multi-crew jet. A good friend of mine at Indy got the interview within a few months of getting on the A-319 there. He had lots of RJ PIC time and they would not call him, but with just over 300 in the A-319 he got the call. I've actually been in to recruiting to make the case for RJ drivers as has the Chief Examiner on the 777, but it's not even their decision. A non-pilot is making that decision right now so until he changes his mind or gets moved to another job the policy stands.

Maybe they're not desperate, but their perks are very attractive and makes me tempted to start getting back to training. I should maybe not have said "desperate", especially with what (little) time I have (no PPL yet). I don't claim to be a knowitall, and don't plan to in the future.

Erik.
