Emergency evacuation slide from United flight falls into neighborhood near Chicago O’Hare International Airport​

A United Airlines Boeing 767 plane lost its emergency evacuation slide in mid-air Monday – and it ended up in the backyard of a home near Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, officials and a witness said.

Some aircraft have over wing slides in external compartments.

Saw a couple of pictures from the aircraft. Seems the slide compartment on the left side, at the wing root popped open and stayed attached to the aircraft. The slide went by by

This is the emergency slide that is activated when a window exit is opened to slide off the wing with. Makes the most sense that this was the one to come out/off. Still unsure what caused it or if it was someone pulling on the window exit or not.
