So what is the general consensus on letting go of the paper logbook? I've been keeping my computer logbook (excel spreadsheet for now, soon to be LogbookPro) up to date but my paper logbook is back about 4 months. Do you think I can get away with putting it on the shelf and just using the computer ones? I plan to scan the endorsments out of the paper book and save them along with the computer based ones. I know LBP has a really nice print feature (expensive though!) that I can use come interview time. I can't find anything in the regs that would preclude going strictly digital... thoughts?

I don’t know if there is any reason you must keep a traditional paper logbook. I have been using LogbookPro for almost three years, but I also keep a paper logbook. I have made a habit of always logging flights on paper and then make entries into the digital version. I like having a traditional logbook and it solves any signature or sign off requirement. It is probably a matter of preference though.

How much does logbook pro cost you? I've been using logshare, and i haven't found any drawbacks yet.

Logbook pro is about $70 I think. I would take a look at logshare but for two things. Firstly, I can import my current data (in excel) into Logbook pro easier and it prints out sheets that look really nice for interview stuff.

Well I guess the pretty pictures are usually why some computer programs are more than others I guess.

I personally would not let go of the paper logbook. The last time I interviewed all of had the Large professional logbooks except for one guy. The gentlemen with the bound printout seemed to be asked a lot of questions about endorsements and signoffs.

I personally feel that the Jepp stype professional logbook look better in an interview and don't leave as much open for discussion.

I use Logbook Pro and it is a great tool to back up your paper logbook and total times for interviews and applications. LBP is also a great tool for currency, and 121/135 time rules. It is a very powerful program with a lot of tools which justify its price. The company also provides excellent support of its software.

Bandit Driver... I assume that is a picture of your child.... but what is that in the corner? A TIE fighter?

Your are correct. That is a pic of my little guy or girl. I assume you are referring to the symbol in the lower right corner. It is a some sort setting that the ultrasound tech used. It changed to a couple of different symbols during the ultrasound.
