Electronic logbook recommendations

I am looking into buying an electonic logbook to back up my paper logbook. I want to be able to enter flight information through my phone and be able to sync it with my computer. Which program do ya'll recommend?

Depends on what you use. For the Mac I highly recommend LogTen Pro. I use the desktop and iPhone versions daily and they are great.

For Windows I hear a lot of people using Logbook Pro, but I haven't used that software so I don't know. I know there are people on JC who use it...

I just got LogTen pro for my iPad. I really like it, but it is taking forever to input all my past flights, so that part is kind of a drag, but you will have to do that with any software. Would I recommend it though? Absolutely. It is completely customizable and will fit anyone.

I have a PC and a phone that uses the android os, so I don't think LogTen is going to work for me. I thought I might try logbookpro but I just want to make sure I'm getting the right kind before I spend the $$$ on it. Thanks for the replies.

I have a PC and an iPhone and use logbook pro. I like it with the app so far but my biggest gripe is the $20 a year for the cloud. I'm trying it out this year and like it so I guess I'm screwed :) oh and putting in past flights was a pain but as said before that will come with any of them. Also I've heard that if you get the paper from them you can take it into kinkos and make really nice logbook to take in for interviews.

DStu, have you had any problems transfering data from your iphone to your windows pc? I ask because I have been thinking about switching to an iphone. Also, I noticed there are several versions of logbook pro. Did you have to get the most expensive version to be able to link your pc with your phone? Thanks for all the advice.

I've got the same set up and use LogBook Pro. Love it. Recently printed out the logbook for an interview, and I really liked the results. No problems synching through the cloud. Like another poster said, I'm not a big fan of an annual fee for the synch capabilities. I'd rather just pay for the app. I guess at least they don't charge for both....

Think we should have a "logbook" forum, where all the Electronic Log Book/How do Iog this questions can go and sit, also...move all those threads that current exist into one easy to find area. The search is difficult to find.

;)

That's great... we can also put all the "I can't believe <insert name of FREE web based logbook software> is down! I want my money back!" threads there too.

And the firestorm of logging PIC from the right seat threads. And IMC logging.

Maybe make a sticky out of one of the very informative threads about it?

Wait do people actually read the stickies?

When syncing I had problems with the order of flights but I just added TO and landing times so the app can put them in the right order. Android has an app for LB Pro as well and I'm assuming it has the same capabilities.

I think that it should be under Technical Talk....who looks there anyways?!

That's all I do on the app: put in OUT and IN times. My math sucks, so I let the smart program take care of it. :)

Yeah I was having to put in twice, in the out and in and the calculator. I was just using the calculator but that didn't keep track of the order of the flights, which doesn't really matter but I'm OCD about my logbook.

Edit: there is an option to use out and in times to calculate the time without having to use the time calculator. I have been using LB Pro for a few years but only the app for about a week so I'm still learning :)

School me on your printing process? Did nc software do it?

Does anyone out there using LogTen pro know if and how you can add endorsements or ratings (tail wheel or high altitude for example) to the app?

Yup, just search for log, logging, logbook, and clean it all up...

Hell, move it to the Jetcareers.com frontpage, lol.

Get some good quality paper from Office Depot, and just use LBP to print it out in Jepp format. You can tell it to swap margins and insert a blank front page for front and back printing. The Jepp print out has a cover page, but I designed one I liked better just using Google Docs. Spend about 2 hours printing it out front and back, take it to Kinko's and say "I need this spiral bound, please, with a vinyl back and clear front." Poof. Have a logbook.
