Effect of Phil Trenery Still Being Felt

According to the union facebook page, the mec meeting for tomorrow has been cancelled with more info to come....interesting

Looks like no timeline, one guy said expect late next week.

Timelines are nearly useless these days in any business.

Ok, I've cooled my jets.

I got a little hot under the collar because we were treated like kindergarteners during bankruptcy both by the company and, sadly, by our union ("if you don't agree, you're an idiot, go sit in the corner"). So most of my rage was largely a reverberation of the stresses from the time when it was Southernjet's turn through the bankruptcy meat grinder.

I know at least a couple of guys involved with your union representation and they're a couple of guys I trust and hold a lot of faith in. If you're not getting answers, keep asking and if you don't, tell me and I'll get them myself.

Best of luck folks.

Word is CEO will make some sort of announcement on Monday. Just what I heard in the crew room so take it with a grain of salt. I thought it was always FU Fridays, not FU Mondays.

guys if the company didnt want to talk with the union anymore it means that they are having issues with one of their other partners, probably delta. We could be looking at parking or selling a lot of airplanes pretty quickly i fear.....

I love how ALPA said that if we give them 5% now and then go BK "that will be included in whatever they get in BK."

Outright lie, 9E MEC, outright lie...

So the company treats is like mushrooms and the union is lying to us...

That's not a lie. It's one of two competing theories on how to best handle bankruptcy. One theory is exactly what they're telling you: that if you take concessions to avoid bankruptcy, and still end up there anyway, that the judge will give you credit for whatever you've already done. The other theory is that giving up anything prior to bankruptcy will not be taken into consideration, and the judge will basically just award whatever the company claims that they need. Neither theory is right or wrong, and neither is a lie. It's just a theory, and which is better in a given situation is probably dependent on which bankruptcy judge you get, among other factors.

Can you give me an example of a pilot group that gave concessions, then the airline still went bankrupt and the judge took those concessions into account?

As far as I know, and I'm willing to learn, it hasn't happened.

Wasn't ours for sure. That was, however, the initial idea with the first round of pay cuts but the deal was between management and the union. When we sank into bankruptcy, the company decided "Yeeeeeeeah, whatever" and went for more cuts.

So basically, don't buy into any of it because no one really knows until it happens.

Judges tend to go with precedent.

They research previous cases, see how the cases are similar, etc and then present a ruling.

So far, I think the precedent is not in the pilots favor and for our MEC to answer the question with a resounding yes, rather than the truth of "we don't know, but it's very doubtful", aggravates me a great deal. ESPECIALLY after the numerous "They really need your 5% guys, but it's up to you" emails we keep getting.

Tell you what, I'll take the 3% I feed ALPA and give that to them, I imagine it would have a greater impact on my life than if ALPA got it.

Whatever it is I give to ALPA.. How much is it? I don't know, obviously. It's a moot point to care. I have to pay it to them whether I want to or not.

So.. Educate me.. How much do we give per check to ALPA? 1.3577842%?

don't matta. but was curious if i was paying the wrong amount.

To be fair if you didn't have a union, you'd already have a 5% pay cut, and alot more.

I've worked 121 without a union, so please, spare me the lesson.

I'm also not saying I'm anti-union. I'm actually very thankful to work at an airline with a union, after working at a non-union shop. The only way I'd vote to get rid of ALPA would be if there was something better than ALPA and there currently isn't.

However, You've missed the point, apparently. I'm just a touch aggravated at info my MEC has given our pilot group that I don't view as truthful.
