just out of curiousity, where is someone going to get 50 turbine time? ya know what I mean? anyone who can ride in a turbine is going to have more than that lol.... might as well say 'turbine time'

I think I heard a demo pilot in ORF correctly. He said the Eclipse has basically the same MTOW as a Baron??!?!?

Off the Eclipse website---- MTOW 5995 lb.

MTOW BE-58 I'm flying---- 5500 lb.

Read on a critics site that the FIKI certification has been delayed again...

Tfaudree. Your avatar is cracking me up!

When I went to school on the Learjet, the instructor was going over limitations and mentioned the max altitude limitation of 51,000 feet. My sim partner leans over and whispers to me, "51,000?? Do I look like a F*@%|^ cosmonaut to you??!!"

Wow...

5995...that is very light. ;-)

Legally, above 6,000 lbs max-weight lots of additional design requirements come into play. E.g., minimum engine-out climb gradient, max-allowable Vso speed (interestingly, the FAR specifies a minimum Vso as a Calibrated Airspeed, but Eclipse performance isn't calculated using CAS).

My words of wisdom:

Friend don't let friends fly Eclipses.

Never fly the A-model of anything.

SIC in an Eclipse is like FE time in a 172.

Seriously, 135 in an Eclipse with an SIC? Single pilot certified, right? The autopilot is installed, right? Do they plan on making money with it, or fly 3 people +bags for, what, 30-minute legs?
