eBay ce500 type rating

It's cool that the profit is going to a good cause, however I think that this is an amazing marketing scheme they could benefit from in the future.

I've always thought of doing a type rating just for the fun of it and to stay active in aviation.

I bet this will end up at or near full price anyway. I guess aopa is going to run an article about this on their website as well as email members.

Could be a good marketing idea.

I always thought the types for the 500 or 525 were cheap enough it would be a better deal than paying $2k to get your ATP, as you could get both at the same time. But $5k is about what they normally cost, I thought.

It will end up near the normal price. One thing alot of people do on ebay is create multiple accounts. They will have one primary account they list their items on and use the other accounts to bid up their own items. They do this so they can run no reserve auctions but if the price is to low they will just win themselves and it dont cost them a thing. Sometimes they will just keep bidding it up and win it but than offer it to second highest bidder as a second chance offer to buy. Thats when you know you have been had. One way to fight against this is to check the other bidders and look at their bid histories. Alot of times the bid history will have like 100 bids but all 100 bids were on that one sellers items. Thats a red flag right there.

for example the bids on this item were by

n**4
o**m
7**d
h**1
k**6
3***e

All of them are brand new accounts and there only bids are on this auction. Thats a common way of jacking the prices up on your own product.

t***p seems to be the only possible legit buyer and he stopped bidding awhile ago

Nope- Impossible. EBAY catches everyone who does that. I don't think it's possible- they must be legit bids.

I had to go double check this. Their course normally includes 1 hr in the plane for training and 1 hr for checking. The deal on ebay does not.

Shill bidding is against federal law and they could REALLY get rammed for doing it. Besides, there will be enough people to bid this up to full price (or over :laff: imo)

I have never seen a type rating offered through eBay.
Is the company new? eBay is a good way to enter the market; have a lot of people see your product.

The only type ratings I've ever seen on ebay are B-25 SIC ratings. I know which one of the two (B-25 versus Citation) sounds more fun, for sure.

LOFT in CA does CE-500 or 525 type for about $10k and include 5 hours in either aircraft.

Thi doesn't strike me as a good deal any way you look at it.
