Eagle pilots reject 'or else' offer

According to sources in the American Eagle pilot group today, American Eagle's pilot ALPA MEC has rejected the 'or else be Comair'ed!' proposal issued by the company.

They have instead appointed a new negotiating committee chair with the intent of submitting a counter proposal.

NO CONCESSIONS! NO WAVERING!

Interesting. I wonder if they (AA) will counter or find a home for the new airplanes?

If it weren't a regional, maybe. The deck is stacked against them. There's no winning.

I think you give up too easily. There might not have been a way to win in the past, but circumstances in the industry and the world have changed. It's a whole new card game out there.

Besides- the first rule of business is 'never accept their first offer'. A 'first offer' couched in a threat only proves they're weak. They went all in on the flop and tried to steal the blinds.

Winning isn't just about having the best hand.
It's about knowing how to play the cards you're dealt and having the guts to call a bad bluff.

"I'm all in."

I just hope us at Xjt do the same. I've talked to a lot of the LXJT guys, and they mostly seem to be voting no. I've only met 2 people on the CRJ side that are voting yes.

I disagree. Eagle and XJT are large regional Airlines that can use size as their leverage.

Even if their 50 seat flying isn't replaced by large RJs 1 for 1, Mainline companies are going to have quite a problem sending hundreds of aircraft worth of large RJ flying to these 500 pilot group airlines.

I think the companies have been bluffing all along. If they aren't, Pride is going to cause an operational meltdown at the regional level

The title is a bit misleading. The Eagle MEC is going to offer a counter proposal (no details yet). No guarantee management will budge on their initial offer. I see it unlikely but it could still go to the pilots in its current form. Should know more next week.

Not really. Despite the very diplomatic wording of the union email to pilots, a proposal delivered with an ultimatum that isn't accepted officially amounts to "no". The fact that the MEC is drafting a counter offer by no means suggest capitulation, but rather an attempt towards a more realistic approach to the situation.

If the counter proposal is worse than XJT's TA, are the XJT pilots going to regret voting no? Ford and Harrison has this game won

Be nice to see some words of support from ALPO national. But you won't...

Emirates is the real threat. The foundation of the career is burning in ALPA's backyard, but how many •s do they give...

Zero.

It would be nice to see something from ALPA trying to coordinate a resistance at least among those large Regional pilot groups like Eagle and XJT. If the big players like Eagle, XJT and the RAH groups can put their foots down at least there's some hope. Sure the deck is stacked against them but while I do think the regionals will shrink, they shouldn't be losing pay and retirement money as it happens.
