Eagle pilots... Captain's review board

Word is, once an applicant gets that far they're past the company's 'interview' stage. The CRB is just how the union keeps a hand in the hiring process.
Hmmm, that's not the way I remember it but then I haven't worked in recruiting for almost 10 years. At the time, the "Captains" were "Captain" C, VP of flight, Captain W, Dir. of Flt, and a rotating CP. None were active union pilots. Not saying times haven't changed, but it piques my interest to learn if our union has any direct control on the hiring process.

All in all, I'd guess being a furloughee is a major factor. Like it or not, Pilots are a commodity subject to the laws of supply and demand. The fact Eagle is turning down furloughed pilots, if indeed that was the reason, tells me they are getting enough to fill their quotas and, therefore, are looking for reasons to disqualify applicants.

If the pilot shortage was severe enough, a twice convicted juvie with a pot bust could probably get hired. It's not only a matter of qualifications, but also of timing.

Interesting. It would seem I am mistaken- I thought the CRB was a union effort. I didn't know it was potentially comprised of management captains.

That changes things completely. Hmm.

Can't be too hard. I think we all know of a person with obvious mental problems that made it through.

I know a handful of people hired at multiple companies during the hiring spree who shouldn't have been allowed to touch a Cessna 152.

I interviewed March 3rd, got past the interview, and got my certified letter last week saying I didn't get passed the CRB. It is what it is. I'm not upset. They can be picky these days. Guess they didn't like that I was in the guard flying an F-16, volunteered at my local fire department on the weekends, or that I fed the homeless on my overnites.

I'm shocked by that! ALPA should write an article about you!

Seriously - good luck to you. Keep that sense of humor, it's a great trait.

The F16 only has one engine!!!!!!!! You can't fool Eagle human resources, they're too smart for that. They prefer multi time in a seminole.

If they don't want to hire furloughed guys, then why are they asking them in the interview if they are willing to give up their seniority number?
I was an intern at AA/Eagle and still got rejected by the board.

So I heard through the grapevine that one of my former flight instructing colleagues made it all the way through the Eagle interview, but was turned down by the captain's review board. This of course piqued my curiosity... what does a CFI have to have done in their relatively short career (~3 years) to get nixed by the review board at Eagle?

Whoever didn't get hired here is better off.. they just don't know it yet..

Go somewhere with a damn future. Do you REALLY want to get displaced all over the country and sit reserve for 3-4 years only to NEVER upgrade?? Who even knows how long a current new hire will sit reserve.. could easily be 5+ yrs.. My roommate has been here 3 years and cannot hold a line and probably will not hold a line anytime this year. He is on the verge of quitting every day because reserve is horrid.

Past performance is not an indication of future results. Just because your experience was unpleasant does not mean that everyones experience was like that.

Everyone here is talking about how upgrade will drop, reserve time will diminish and hiring will continue into the indefinite future. I don't think it will all be perfect and butterflies and rainbows, but it certainly has to improve.

That's exactly what my last airline told me after I drank to much of this...

how many YEARS have we been hearing this now? LOL

Its like the pilot shortage that's always juuuuuuuuuust around the corner.. yeah right.

I'm a realist. I only see things getting worse at Eagle.. certainly not better. We will have movement of 35 in June then YEARS of more stagnation and Im sure the Chittaco flying will only increase in the future making things worse.

but hey.. I'll be able to go to American in 15yrs lol

Try not to get too down when somebody rolls in and starts doing your job for less. Eventually, you get used to it. I mean don't get me wrong, it's easy to allow it to be the cherry on top of everything being DOOOOOOOOM, and believe me, I've been there, but you're in a much better position at Beagle than guys at PSA, Colgan, Pinnacle, TSA, etc. Those guys have crappy contracts AND upgrade is taking just as long as Beagle right now.

Kool-aid at a new-hire class? I wouldn't have guessed.

I wouldn't doubt that things will improve a little there, as it's pretty easy to improve on no movement whatsoever. Anyone going to Eagle--or anywhere--now who *isn't* planning for a long upgrade is crazy, though.
