E28 HOOK--re: Key West NAS

Standard practice just about everywhere I've seen is to ask for GW and engagement speed after landing, but I do remember miramar tower asking me as I was turning final for a straight in single engine trap one time. I just told them I'd get back to them.

Max engagement for a legacy hornet is 175 kts, so I guess a little different than the SH. I was honestly unaware that there was a different max trap speed according to GW for takeoff abort long field traps, but that would make sense. My guess is that it isn't much of a factor for us, with a 51k max TOW.....and as c-182 knows, that's pretty rare.

There was a situation where someone from the Ramstein Aeroclub snagged a donut on a BAK-9 at Bitburg AB with the main gear of a Piper Warrior and shut the airfield down for about 15min. Said individual did get his hindside chewed out by the SOF on duty - and was laughed at by all his tower friends. But I know nothing about it. :D

It appears you may know said individual........:D

We were prohibited from landing before/on the cables in the KC-135 and we were supposed to taxi over them slowly if at all. At Kadena the wider runway (5L/23R) would generally be cable free and used by the heavies and the narrow runway would usually have the cables up as it was the primary fighter recovery runway (5R/23L). This makes the cables a non-issue...until the wide runway is NOTAMed closed on the day your checkride comes up. Oh what fun that was.
