Eh, the old style 737s with the logo lights on the wingtips were just as annoying. Spotlight in the face anyone?Sounds like they didn't test it much at night.

The more hours in Embraers I accumulate the more I think that they just don't test a lot of things, period.
That's because they spent almost all of the design time frame trying to meet the launch customer's (US Airways) request to run all the data through one FMS head. Of course that didn't work out, but they sure spent a lot of time trying.
On the E145, if you seat near the middle, you can actually here the flash of the beacon. Once you hear it once you cant, not, hear it. Talk about miserable.
At least you'll always know it is down. The gear dropping in the 145 is one of the most disturbing noises I have ever heard coming from an airplane.

Well...mostly.
Precisely what I meant, in fact. You mean like in BOS?
"It sure sounds like it's down..."
I was deadheading on my bird a few days ago. We arrive in Chicago, the passenger ahead of me was chatting with his seat mate:
"I'm sure glad we didnt get stuck with one of those regional jets on this flight. I don't like them"
Also the strobes have a dedicated naca vent for cooling.
Game. Set. Match.
