Let's just hope Duffy doesn't decide to put Meal Team 6 on the frequency. "This here's Jethro. Got your ears on? Ya'll are cleared to land runway 45. Over and out."
 
It seems like Duffy's only option is to try to makes an example of what they will inevitably label as "dead wood" and hope that puts fear in the rest of the workforce.

Based on the resolve of yer average ATC beard-o and general already-frayed-ends, I personally would not advise further progress along that route.
 
It hasn't been all thanks for coming to work and free food... I can feel things ready to burst at the seams on the radios. For instance here is one small moment in time...

Didn't get a check this week center controller: "Hey, CFTO... can you make FL370"

CFTO: Sorry (I'm in a super stretched version of a very common french designed bird that can only make 370 when it's a flying gas can with no pax or cargo) unable due to weight.

Controller: (instead of giving us a 15 degree off course vector) "ok then, this traffic conflict isn't gonna be my problem anymore - you are cleared to a random point in central OH that is about 200 NM off your flight plan and then direct to a major metro NYC area airport."

CFTO: (keys mic) Thanks, dir XXXX and then XXXX. (to other pilot) Ok. here's that.... but in about 20 min when we are out of this sector we are gonna work this out and get back on an arrival because there is no way that (major metro NYC airport) is gonna let us do that. I'm gonna text dispatch with a worst case scenario if they have us pick up our orig plan here and here which would have us going back up north...

I’m 100% cynically convinced this is true. Break the system by chronically underfunding and understaffing it, point at how it isn’t working and privatize.

All GW Bush and Cheney wanted to do was privatize everything in the DoD. We ended up with vastly less useful services, and I'm sure the end cost was far more than the non-privatized cost/contract. The price of everything and the value of none. Barf

Lmao, I was listening to PHL tower a few days ago and heard AA ask the same question.


Btw there was a possible staffing trigger at MHT for this afternoon and we can't go in since it's not in our C80. They found someone but I assume they say hey we'll pay you with this big IOU
