I know its sold, but what exactly does this unit do? If you dont mind my ignorant question.

It's mostly meant for Foreflight for the iPad models with only wifi, so you can get a moving map when up in the air. Also, not ignorant at all! Message me if you have any further questions.

Even with 3G good item to have. I have lost GPS signal with my 3G iPad but never with this hooked up.
