Hi there :)
Before you make up your mind, consider getting a non-aviation degree. That seems to be the general consensus on many aviation forums.

Now, to answer your question:
I was searching and recent news is that the school has seen better days, but it is not in bad shape:

Also, I'd recommend getting in touch with username "captainphil". He goes to Dowling and has always been kind enough to answer my questions.

Get a degree outside of aviation. If you really want to go to college for aviation, don't dig yourself into a deep hole of debt by going to a private school. SUNY Farmingdale is on the island as well, and is a lot cheaper. I know instructors both at Dowling and SUNY, the programs dont differ much but the price tag does.

when i went to visit dowling i also visited farmingdale and from me and everyone else who was there the people at farmingdale didnt know anything about there program and they didnt know much of any information at all so im not as worried about the money aspect but i would wrather go to a school where they knew what they were talking about

Who did you talk to at Farmingdale? Please don't say admissions.

Aviation degree

I majored in aviation. Unfortunately, I ran into medical issues and financial problems and I had to discontinue my flight training. Now I'm graduating in June with a degree that isn't worth the paper it's printed on. I don't have a commercial license, so I can't get a pilot jobs, and all of the non-flying aviation jobs require years of experience. I have no job prospects at the moment and I don't expect to find any.

PLEASE major in something outside of aviation, and do the flying at an FBO. Business, economics, engineering, English, and even dance are all more useful than aviation. Also don't major in "aviation administration" or "aviation business." The degree is more useless than flight science - you can't fly, do maintenance, or ATC; and a corporation will always hire a business major over an "aviation administration" person. You might as well major in upside-down underwater hopscotch.
