Doug were you at DAB on..?

Geez, spies! Spies!

Were you working at DAB? Or did you hear the sarcastic, "Proud to be an Eagle!" over tower?

what's "proud to be an eagle" mean?

Sounds like an enthusiastic Riddle student to me...

The things I used to hear on frequency in Daytona...

"Riddle 428 say your position"

"Shortstop"

Then it was you

... Thought you looked familiar. I saw you deplane your 88. I was sitting at gate 2 waiting to depart for ATL, I was visiting ERAU because I might go there next year.

Did you see "captain goofball" from USAir Express who had his mirrored ray bans on indoors with his captain's hat pulled down real low? Geez, that was worth a good laugh for about 5 mins.

Did he come up to you and ask "Those your flight gear bags there, boy?"

Well, the guy looked like he was running for a Central American dictatorship with the hat and the sunglasses on indoors. Poor guy probably hasn't realized yet that a person is more likely to hand you their luggage than they are to go "Ooh! Ooh! Hey mister pilot!"

If you saw the big FO that was taking the aircraft from us, that was Mike Bailiff who played for the Houston Oilers.

All that was missing was the menagerie of medals hanging under the wings.....

That was actually one of my first thoughts...

Idi Amin is a USAirways Express captain. Whoodathunkit.

Wonder how you build enough hours to fly for a major while being a pro jock?

Must have done his flying after retiring, I'd guess. Can't hardly imagine a pro team allowing an "asset" to moonlight, even off-season, at a "dangerous" profession. (But I've been wrong before....)

Do you know if he started from scratch after the injury? If not, what was his background (flying-wise) before/during college and pro sports?

I think Mike got injured, went to Comair and then onto Delta.

One of the most friendliest, pro-pilot guys on earth.

We were both DFW-based but now commute to ATL and haaaaaaaate it! Man o man.

HAHA,

I did see him! I was thinking the exact same thing, but I thought that maybe it was just me! I could not understand why he had his Aviators on inside the terminal! Was the NFL player taking the aircraft for the next flight to ATL?

What position did Mike Bailiff play?

I am guessing Offensive Line because as you say he is a friendly guy. We are the friendliest guys off the field but once we step between those lines watch out we want to drive your rear end into the ground.

That's one thing I remember about my football days. The guys on the line were the coolest people, the most mellow, even though they could snap me in half if they wanted to.

I dunna. Something in the mindset, I guess.
