Planes are cool but I don't think you've been with the right girl or maybe you've been with the right girl but stayed a little too long.

I'm actually ripping on the jokes I hear from people at dining centers in their free time.. MAN ITS FREE TIME you are done with school, quit the aviation talk and talk about some other things, I don't hear engineers talking about circuits or gears all day long.

Yeah and the answer to that joke was.. Because you can do a touch and go... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: How bad can it get...

Depends on the engineer, I have engineer friends, and infact I am taking engineering class too. Its insane what they go through, and yes everyone has time to talk about their major, but not on your free time man.. Its called hobbies. Personally I am a person that likes attention to a lot of technical issues, you will find various tools in my house, engineering books, all the way to obvious aviation stuff, but I don't live in them, I use them as references.

In fact I have to admit, my ex ex ex said, all Djs are geeks in denail, and I agree, you will find a crazy sound system, turtables, records, and all that in my house too, and I love getting into detail with them, but with the right people, right time, and all. We can't just eat turkey in thanksgiving, but we need mashed potatoes, gravy, salad, bread, and what I am trying to say is, it's about variety.

One subject that I really enjoy out of the technical life, social relations, people and etc. you can get so deep in that too.

Basically, who isn't a dork, lets just respect other majors, and quit the aviation talk, and talk what they talk about too.

excuse me.. are you a pilot? because this IS an aviation website and if your not a pilot, you might not belong because all we DO is talk aviation....

this forum isn't going to be turned into a "what's going on at UND" k?!:)

LOL, Kristie. He meant it in good fun, mainly pointing it out to his friends (Jace and I). We like ripping on the dorky UND kids here because they're just ewwwwwwwww so dorky. I love aviation, just don't talk about it 24/7 everywhere I go. (that's what he was referring to)

I know what you guys mean. I just want to turn around and slap them. "Talk about football or something!"

I seriously wonder if most of the kids here have any other passions or interests. Aviation used to be the biggest for me. Its about even with everything else now. I would hate flying with these kids, thats for sure. Im already working, I dont want to talk about work the entire time. Know what I mean? Except maybe to joke about what screw ups someone else did or something.

Yes, I am a pilot, recently got my commercial certificate. It has been my dream since childhood to be a pilot, and yes I grew up right next to an airport overseas, and for my free time during my childhood I watched planes all the time. My message extends out to all the aviation students in one of the top aviation schools and letting them know how cheesy it gets when we hear nothing but planes planes and planes during everyones (the whole entire school) free time, all over campus.

OH ok...

I was just concerned (for like a mini-second :p ) that the UND forum would start becoming a hangout for "any" student and become much more of a social forum than an aviation related forum - kwim?! We created the lav for the social environment - we want to keep the separate forums more aviation related...1 or 2 posts is fine, but if the social posts start overwhelming the aviation posts, we'd have to delete them and get the "take it to the lav" stick out.. KWIM?

i don't really care who you call a dork...even i get called a dork from time to time (must have something to do with that engineering background i have :p ), so i can relate because even engineers do that - talk engineering 24/7.. gawd, how boring! :banghead:

Hey Tom, are you the famous one with the oldsmobile drifting video btw?

I thought that was just awesome!

Yep, that would be me.

Are you the one with the two door, or four door e36? I've seen two, well three. There's also a kid with a busted ass 318is around here too.

He's got an E34 535i ...the E34 535i is quite possibly one of the best BMW's ever made (well, not just the chassis but mainly it's engine...it's a torque beast).

Oh I see. Is it the one driving around with the model badging removed? I've been wondering what this one I keep seeing with no badging was.

I can never really judge the difference between the four door e36 and e34 at first glance.

One of my buddies back home has an E28 535i thats chipped. Its quite beastly when you get above 3 grand. Sounds pretty good too. I only like its handling though. Straight line performace is about equal to the higher performance grand prix's. Good handling is fun and all, but I get just as much satisfaction going around a hairpin at 30-40 as I do accelerationg like a bat out of hell down a straight road. Which is why I really only like the 3 series. The E28s kinda chunky compared to the 34 though isnt it? I've never riden in the newer 5 series either.

Yeah I drive a car with a great m30 engine as mentioned :) Honestly it has 261500 miles still working like a beast. Built in 1988 of September a 1989 535i e34 automatic (unfortunatley) but it has been my favorite car to own even though I spend a lot on repairing it with parts. Mainly rubber parts, bushings, and electrical issues. I wish I had the $ for paint job, I love its color but it has a front that has been blasted by previous owners and became a freckled car full of paint chips.

My plate number is BMW 535, then you know it's my car.
Great highway cruiser, horrible off the line, but as you said get around the 30s and 40s it kicks in great! I love its handling though and impressed with its main durablitiy.

Ah, you've got the atomic. I know which ones yours. Were you in mcvey last year? I seem to recall seeing it in the loading zone parking lot a few times.

Yeah yeah, I did live in Mc Vey. Yes and I used to park in 30 min often. I had it overheat there once. Man I hate the loading and unloading of McVey, happy I have an apartment again now. It was insane living there, even though I had a double as a single, I had lived in an apartment earlier and had to stuff all my stuff in the room. Luckily i got out of dorms again, and just fit in this apartment.

Yeah, I remember one of the blue WRX guys dang near ripping his front bumber completely off backing out of the spot by the wall. It was the one that subaru that wasnt modded at all. Stock everything including the ugly wheels. I felt bad for him.

I actually almost got stuck there once. Some punk decided he was going to spin his tires in the frozen snow there. Well I pulled in and dropped down into this nice deep hole that I didnt see.

Luckily my car is pretty light and I just pretty much picked up the left front corner of my car enough to get it out while a buddy backed it out slowly. The height of my front fender is in a perfect possition to dead lift that thing. Well one corner at least. :D That would have been really really gay to call in a tow-truck for something so stupid.
