Don't you just love it when non-pilots try to criticize..?

Re: Don't you just love it when non-pilots try to criticize.

It sounds like the pilot could have done a better job to inform the passengers. The only criticism I heard revolved around that. Leaving the pax to attempt to analyze the problem, including trying to make sense of an abbreviated comment from the cockpit, is not a good thing.

Obviously they've never ridden on a Saab.

Re: Don't you just love it when non-pilots try to criticize.

The only annoying sound I heard was the woman talking :dunno:

Re: Don't you just love it when non-pilots try to criticize.

LoL. She said it sounded as if "the backup was shearing right off. If she felt that strongly about it, why didn't she say something when the PTU kicked in during the start sequence?

Re: Don't you just love it when non-pilots try to criticize.

Yeah.... But she saved $15 on that flight!!

I loved how she said, "Why are we running on the back-up system anyway?" (implying that the captain was a cowboy imo) Some people are unbelievable....

Hahaha it sounds like its gonna shear off...whatever it is.

That is the most quality comment. Just remember guys, its dangerous because it can shear off!

Re: Don't you just love it when non-pilots try to criticize.

I don't think people should sit down shut up and be quiet, but I also don't think they should start stating things as if they were facts when they don't know jack.

THE THING FOR PRESSURE FOR DA AIRPWANE IS GONNA SHEER RITE AWFF!

Re: Don't you just love it when non-pilots try to criticize.

I used to hear all kinds of comments when I was flying the general public around in 402s. Normally they'd wait until I put my headset on and the engines were started. Of course, with my ANR turned on, I could hear every word. :D

Just let it roll off your back. All good.

Re: Don't you just love it when non-pilots try to criticize.

It was the scariest time of all our lives. We were trying to text goodbyes, People were crying , very upset and getting sick from the burning hydraulic fluid smell that came in.

Geeeze, those brave survivors!

Long ago we were driving along at night and the FA came into the cockpit. "What's that city off to our right? A passenger wants to know." Captain Jack grunted, "It's Indianapolis." The FA left the cockpit. I checked my charts. "Jack, that's not Indianapolis," I said.
Jack smiled, "Yeah, you know it and I know it but they don't or they would not have asked 'what's that city'?"

I think it's cultural.

Instead of thinking "Ok, there's something going on which I do not understand" a lot of people think "Let me decide what I think is going on with my limited information, and uninformed perspective".

Flying years ago in a 1900, I had a passenger threaten to have me arrested for risking his life.

On approach, the radar altimeter went off at feet, runway environment in sight, side-step and continued for a visual landing. Happens every day.

To the passenger, he saw two hot dog pilots flying around in the fog, looking for the runway, some "alarm" going off loudly and a last minute swerve away from a road and to a runway.

Some people have the inability to accept that the 'hired help' behind the door are trained professionals that, as much as it's hard for some people to accept, know more than them about flying an airplane and that just because it didn't make sense to the passenger doesn't mean that it actually doesn't make any sense.

Certain personality types cannot "let go" even in environments where they've got severely limited knowledge of.

How many times have you heard people complaining "Welp, my uncle says the weather in Atlanta is fine! Why are we on a weather delay?" or " or "what do you mean we have to stop for fuel, y'all didn't fill it up?" :)

...And in other news: Major airlines reported zero fatalities for 2010

"Shocking revelations about your children being in danger, after the super dooper doppler nine-hundred-million-thousand RADAR report and the wacky sports guy that says "Zing! Whammy!" an inordinate amount of times."

Re: Don't you just love it when non-pilots try to criticize.

The woman was obviously concerned because they failed to pull the chute during this emergency. Also, not sure if they would be able to raise the flaps in the flare fast enough on that backup pump!

You're so oversquare, you don't even know it!
