Don't mess with ATN.......

Them's fightin' words. Give kudos to the AirTran crew.
I am humbly corrected.

Kudos to the AirTran crew for not putting up with the "fresh out of the nest" attitude (which I'm sure is the root of this whole situation. I really liked the quote of the chaparone; "Well one of the kids was asked twcie to shut off his phone but the flight attendant didn't give him a chance to comply". Really? His chance was the several announcements AND the FA telling him directly the FIRST time. Idiots being supervised by idiots.......

ONE thing about this story I didn't like was the fact that the airline made other travel arrangements for the group. I would have loved to see ticket refunds to the lot, with the stipulation that they were not welcome on AT/SW for the next 60 days.

Last time I flew I saw some younger guys walking around the planes and thought to myself "Ah those kids"... Then I realized they were my age or slightly older. I just feel like I have two personas: One for doing semi-immature "my age" things and a separate one when flying. Still waiting to take my friends up so they can see the latter haha.
Get off my lawn!

So how would this go down, practically speaking? Say I'm the lead F/A and have determined the cabin can't be made ready with some rowdy passengers. If it's one or four, I can see 'em getting the boot and it ending with some paperwork.

But when it's 100+ people getting the boot it seems like it would be prudent but still not mandatory to get a thumbs-up from the home office. Is there guidance for when it escalate a problem?

I certainly wouldn't make a call to corporate. All that's going to do is result in me possibly having to disobey a directive from management, because after I've decided that people are coming off, either they're coming off or I am.

Agreed! I'm not a 121 crew but I fly commercial a LOT, I think the present day crews tolerate way to much from idiot passengers! Some of it is politics, I'm sure. however, dropping the hammer in the short term would make it better for everyone in the long haul......

Now the school is publically saying that the airline "over reacted". Of course what would you expect the adminstration of a high-dollar private school to say? If they don't back the students, they'll be looking for another job........
