As I see some of your points about it increasing the chances of a "hey watch this!" scenario, I kind of halfway agree. Yes I could see how it could do that, but part of being a good pilot is to not fall into the "macho" thought process that is really starting to be emphasized heavily (as it should be). The main defense for that argument is for innocent people that could be hurt in that situation, such as passengers, or people on the ground the aircraft could crash into, and I fully understand that defense. Besides that, I see that attitude as some good old natural selection, I am sure most of us here have heard the expression " there are old pilots, and bold pilots, but very few old,bold,pilots"
