Does being a Cessna Pilot Center mean anything?

Yeah, it means they use the King Schools kit and fly Cessna aircraft. My school in ORL was a CPC, then they started flying Diamonds and using Jeppesen record keeping. King Schools got all up in their grill, so they said "Take the damn sign." Operationally nothing changed. If it's a Part 61 school, odds are you can use whatever you want, but the King Schools kits are the preferred method. That's the way it is (or was) at Skymates. We could use the CPCs, and we recommended those. But if someone came in wanting to use Jepp or even just the FAA books (which was my preferred method), we didn't say no.

run far away from the king vidoes. I would have to get drunk to tolerate them, and then i would never remember/be able to read the book to answer the questions, so i would have to watch it the next day anyway.

Name it after me.

I could do without their videos as they are the same thing as the book. I do like the cleared for takeoff book and the syllabus is pretty good. That being said the Jepp book really does cover everything but sometimes a little too in dept and you are left wondering just how much you are expected to know.

Kellwolf made an interesting point that I never thought of before. Just use the FAA books and get a good CFI to fill in all the gaps. Probably not a bad way to go at all!

If you're a CPC you get a 7% discount on all new aircraft purchases to. That's quite a bit of money when you buy a new 182!

Another rule is the school can only buy new Cessnas, no new Pipers, Diamonds, Cirrus ect. Although we can have used anything.

I work at a CPC part 61 FBO. Soon to be part 141 though.

I may have mentioned this before..but martha king has EVERY single FAA rating...adds to her stock a bit

not even chuck norris has every rating

Whoa, that $21,000 off of $300,000 makes it real affordable now:D (just joshin with ya Citation)

I had never used the FAA books until I started my CFI training. I'd always used Jeppesen. Then I was trying to explain something in one of my ground school lessons, so I said "Hey, Jepp has a good diagram for this" and whipped out my instrument/commercial Jepp book. It was the same diagram as the one in the FAA Instrument Flying Handbook.....

After that, I wrote all of my lesson plans out of the FAA books, and I preferred teaching out of them. Didn't hurt that they cost a fraction of the other stuff, too.
