Do you recognize pilots?

I know all the controllers at SQL recognize me as the "Have a sparklin' day" guy. I've done favors for them everytime they've asked and I've noticed the few times I asked for a little favor they've granted it. Seems like they don't forget.

I do know there's a guy at comair that says "keep smilin buddy" when they're handed off to a new freq. Heard him a couple times and wish I could jump through the radio and smack him around a bid. Especially early in the AM.

I've brought home made chocolate chip cookies & Blue Pig BBQ (Ardmore, OK) to the tower guys at TKI. They're awesome. Always helpful when I wanted to show a new student around or if I was just bored and wanted to hang out I'd just call 'em up and they'd buzz me in. :)

When I was in ACK, all the KAP pilots kept there flight numbers every day. There were quite a few that i would dread hearing especially when it was busy.

I liked the Denver approach controller who would say "Good morning" when you were checking in and "Good evening" when you were leaving... regardless of what time of day it was at the time.

I will always remember this one bonanza, who questioned me multiple times, when I told him to "...continue, expect go around short final, disabled aircraft with a blown tire on the runway." Then he wants to know why I can't clear him to land... LOL

Dont let voices fool you. There was two females who worked one the local class D airports that sounded like they both were 10s. So one day I was flying over in that area and I heard one of them working so I called in and asked if I laned if I could come up and visit the tower. She said sure. So I landed got up there and boy was I shocked. Nothing like what I was expecting.

We used to play the game "Is the controller hot?" when I was in the military. Made for a fun way to pass the time amongst the four of us in the Hawk on a long flight.

Our best theory is that the actual hotness of the woman on the other end of the radio is inversely proportionate to the hotness of her voice.

There are, of course, exceptions, but we were proven right time and again. :D

There's a female tower controller at BWI who does a sultry-like "have a nice daaaay" when she hands you off to departure. I don't want to ruin it by visiting the tower; in my head, she's a 10. Always will be. :D

BTW I recognize callsigns for the smaller outfits and private guys.

I'm sure you know who I'm talking about. Does she sound as good on the landline as she does on the radio? :D

Normally when we talk on the landline it is her getting in my ear about needing more space to get departures out so it isn't the friendliest terms.

This happened to me twice. Same tower, different controllers.

Even at the center there are a few pilots I recognize that fly through often. I even recognize 1 Delta 737 captain who flew me back from SLC and says hi every once in a while.

I'm sure pilot's voices are recognized just like we recognize controllers. I fly so often in the same plane that when I get into another plane and use the proper call sign they come back with the one I usually fly. Of course, sometimes that's me getting confused about which plane I'm in but it's not always me.
