Do you like training?

Flying the line isn't bad at all. Ground school (initial, recurrent, or upgrade) blows monkey balls.

Thank God I passed my inital checkride at XJT tonight without problem! Now just LOFT, FAM and OE and I can press on with line flying! Can't wait!!!

Start getting a paycheck after 12:00 AM today... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm with Chicaga on this one. I absolutely despise airline training. Khaki pants, golf shirts and the same 3 to 7 people all day, every day, for weeks. Gack!

Breakfast with pilots, lunch with pilots, dinner with pilots... Argh!

Yeah, it's hard to enjoy ground school. But I enjoyed training and sim sessions. Especially after someone wiser than me told me to get rid of any ideas that instructors and examiners are the oppostion (even if they are) and to not be afraid of busting a ride. I always made sure to think of that before every session and just enjoy. It worked out well.

Hey lloyd, holla at me when you are coming down to ATL, if you have time. And we still gotta take that 150 up /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

FlyChicaga - could you briefly explain what is involved in your initial checkride, LOFT, FAM, and OM ? That would be interesting, thanks a bunch!
and of course CONGRATS!

After being the train-er for 6 months now I really dig it when I get to be the train-ee.

Got checked out in two new aircraft over the past week and they were both a blast (GA-7 and M20F). Granted, they're just another piston twin and single, but studying new material and applying it successfully in the air is every bit as fun for me now as it was at 10 hrs total time.

I think it'll be PDK!!

What airport should it be?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've enjoyed training so far, I'm about half way through working towards my commercial. The only thing that isn't fun is watching the $ slip away. Every once and a while I'll have a flight that doesn't go so well, but most of the time they're a lot of fun. Though I have found that when I'm heading up to the airport I'm like "ugh, here we go" cause of all the planning and waiting that's involved. But once I get out and get finished the preflight its all fun :-).

OK, I can't let this go on.

I work with LLoyd, and he is a great instructor, a great guy, funny as he11, etc. But PLEASE don't tell him that!! He's got this ego, see . . . You're not making it any easier to be with him all day. Help me out here!

During my training I certainly feel that at times I am just going through the motions and getting into the "daily grind". Tell me how fun training is when I have to wake at the buttcrack of dawn to go for a ground session or a quick flight, go home change go to work then go to a 3 hour football practice and then repeat several times minus work or practice, its not the most pleasant experience. However when you're sitting on the runway and you're numer 1000 for t/o and waiting for that biz jet to get his/(her) IFR release and you watch that beautiful G-IV or BBJ of C-750XL (my 3 personal favs) roll down that runway it seems to make all the training pay off knowing that one day thats gonna be you pissing off all the GA pilots b/c you are waiting for a release.

So yeah, your concern is vaild, do i like training all the time the answer would be no, everyone has their bad days I mean who enjoys a whole flight of reviewing steep turns b/c of lack of flying due to WX, availability .etc but there are times when I feel that I have stumbled upon the greatest thing ever just because once a week or 2 I get to go flying.
