Do you have to read back altimeter setting once handed off to a new controller?

Reason #24 not not push the button unless instructed. I see people put in the code and ident all the time. It drives me crazy. I made sure my students never did that.
 
Old thread, but in the chicagoland area if you don't read it back they'll keep telling it to you til you do, lol it's kind of fun to watch my students struggle sometimes. It's how I keep sane because we all used to be in that EXACT same boat at one time or another...
 
I just want you to acknowledge you received the altimeter. Just say something like,"DAL1265 roger."

2-4-3 covers this as far as I am concerned. If you decide to not read something back (altimeter, altitude, heading, clearance, et cetera) and just acknowledge it, you better make sure you are doing what was instructed or given to you because YOU are responsible for what was told to you. If you decide to read it back, ATC is responsible for making sure you read it back correctly.
