Discovery Shuttle Flyover DC

The end of an era. So sad to see this. What are we going to do now to get back in space? We should have been nicer to Newt, at least he had a plan to colonize the moon!

I realize I'll be accused of hating Mom, Apple Pie and babies, too....but...

It was time to cancel the shuttle program. The costs were utterly ridiculous to do LEO jobs that can be done with cheaper launch vehicles. We have some very real problems to deal with here. Ironically, I'd like to see more money spent on the space program, but in areas where there is greater potential yield for scientific understanding.

I have hope though. Ansari. SpaceX. VG. ISS is still there. Great science is still being done. There is still great need for educated students of engineering and physics to continue these things. The scope and grandeur of these needs may have changed, but it simply means that we have a little more work to do to excite younger generations about exploration, science and understanding of the universe.

If our kids aren't dreaming, that ain't NASAs or the Federal Government's fault. It's ours.
