Digital Terminal Procedure -- Format?

SpiraMirabilis

Possible Subversive
Hi guys.

I'm wondering if there is anyone here with any experience with how the Digital Terminal Procedure subscription from the FAA is formatted. Also known as the approach plates (NACO) for the USA in PDF format. A few sites like PDFPlates/Readerplates compile this database.

Is there ANYONE here that has experience with it that can tell me how it arrives? How big it is (in GB) and is there some kind of database that would make sorting it all easy? It says it only is compatiable with Windows, but obviously various sites (airnav, etc) have gotten it parsed to work with Linux, I'm interested in how much of a pain that is.

I don't want to spend $200 on the subscription only to find out it wont work for me, or takes way too much effort.

Yeah, I'm aware. That isn't going to work. For one I don't think they'd appreciate me downloading their entire site every 45 days for what is a commercial enterprise. For second, they already put them all together. That isn't going to work.

jtrain609 is actually a catch all account that is used by DPApilot, the real jtrain, Doug, Seggy, MikeD, Waco and Borris.

It's why you get asinine posts sometimes, and brilliant posts at other times.

Why do I end up watching the whole video every time I am RickRoll'D

I've never had a subscription, but I can take a guess and say that it is a DVD (which means 4. GB or less) filled with individual pdf files. It probably has a windows based program to allow searching through the files.

I do databases on linux systems and I can tell you that it won't be ready to go "out of the box". I used to get airport information sort of like airnav.com does. I think they have a database of "links" to the pdf files (notice you go to a different website when viewing pdfs). I really don't think they subscribe to a publication.

Feel free to drop me an email- I might be able to help you.
