Diamond vs. Cirrus for tall people

I flew a DA40 for the first time the other night and was too tall for it! My knees kept hitting the bottom of the console and prevented me from reaching the brakes and I could barely use the rudders. I also sat in a twin star and couldn't completely close the canopy without hitting my head while sitting up straight. Pipers work for me and I've never been in a Cessna.

I know Cirrus markets their planes as more roomy but if I don't fit in the Diamonds very well am I gonna fit in a Cirrus?

I'm 5'11" and I hit in the DA 40 and 42 if I sit up straight.

I think the seats were designed to promote slouching because of this.

The rudders are too small for anyone with a size 9.5 shoe or bigger, unless you jam your foot against the rudder cables. Otherwise you could land with the brakes on. that is my biggest complaint with the 40 and 42.

I'm 6'3" and I don't remember having any issues getting in and out of our 40..

Why not get a superior aircraft and buy an RV-10.. ;)

Haven't tried a DA-40. I'm 6' 1" and I found the DA20 roomy, though. Lots of leg room.

<shrug>

I'm also 6'4" and had the same experience with the DA40... hated it. 2" more leg room and 2" more headroom and it would be great... haven't flown the cirrus yet.

The Cirrus is a comfortable plane both front and back. I'm 6'4" and I flew both SR20 and 22 with no problems with the leg room. Even sat in the back of a SR22 for a flight and had plenty of leg room. (I was somewhat surprised.)

I am 6'4" and have spent quite a bit of time in both the DA20 and DA40. I wasn't bothered by the head room or leg room, just that you couldn't wear a knee board, as it interfered with the yoke.
