Diamond down near linden,nj

I wish they would close Linden to fixed wing traffic. I'm the last person who wants to see airports close, but there is nothing easy/safe/convenient about LDJ.

Why?

I just used it for a fuel stop right after Hurricane Sandy. Didn't have a problem, other than it wasn't self serve. Plus there is a Quiznos across the runway, through the Home Depot parking lot.
 
MMU, CDW, TTN, TEB, SMQ, 47N are all within a couple minutes of LDJ and much better options. Those airports don't involve getting into EWR Tower airspace and diving below 800' for a pattern, and aren't surrounded by industrial cranes and massive oil tanks. I've been to LDJ too many times, and every time there has always been some kind of issue. Be it traffic not talking to anyone, weather, or both. The last thing I need when flying an 800' pattern with heavy jets departing over me is a Cessna buzzing around not talking to anyone, or flying opposite direction.

I'd be 100% okay with LDJ being just a heliport.
 
In mid 2000's I instructed at TEB and LDJ. There are a lot of other airports close by I agree.
 
I wish Linden didn't have so much craph around it but yeah, it's nt the best location in the world.

I've got no clue what they charge over at Teterhole. I only dealt with them once, at nearly midnight, trying to fight my way over the field at a low altitude, when they must have had a controller on who didn't want to talk to anyone that night.

Sometimes with students the only way I would get in at rush hour was to call approach and get a pop up IFR
