DHL Shuts down its main hub..

I´ve heard that it will affect mainly its aviation workforce. IT will still operate as usual their other deparments, and that their aviation ops will be handeled by UPS...

I feel terrible for the workers losing their jobs and have to hustle to keep a roof over their head and feed their families.

DHL has shut down intra-US deliveries, but not international services. The US has a duopoly for domestic service, and DHL's foray seemed to be pre-determined from the start. There are 3 well known express carriers. UPS, FedEx and DHL. Two of them are household terms in the US.

Our scuttlebutt is that the hub will go to CVG. Press releases indicate 5 US gateways to allow the pre-ABX acquisition system to function.

DHL's main hub for Express operations is Leipzig Germany.. ILN was the US hub, a small fraction of the entire system.
