Denied for VA...

Skymates has apparently been denied for VA benifits... I just spoke to the girl at the front desk on the phone here from Africa. Can anyone shed any light on why?

This is a pretty big blow.

Called again yesterday.. Tiffany answered the phone and once again said they were denied for VA... Can any of the guys that work there shed some light on this?

Their website says they are part 141, which would qualify them for VA. I would give them a call to see what is up.

Not necessarily. You have to be Part 141 for a certain amount of time in order to qualify to give VA benefits. Skymates has been going through the process for well over a year now.

I think the problem with waiting for a response on here is a lot of the guys here are either out of the loop, don't instruct there anymore or a combination of both. Ryan is WAAAY too swamped with students, e-mails etc to keep things up to date in the forums. Heck, it was like that BEFORE they got the contract with the Indian students. Jtrain and I were the main contacts on the forum when we were instructing there. Ryan didn't have the time.

Best thing to do is call and ask. Ryan or Luca would know something, and there's another lady that's working on it, but her name escapes me right now.

I bet the girl meant that they had yet to be approved so therefore VA benefits would be denied to you if you wanted to use them at this school, rather than the process for the school has been denied. But that is just a guess.

Myth.

Just because a school is part 141 does not make them VA Approved.

There is a long drawn out process to get certified by the VA. And it's not just the school, it's EACH training program.

And to the OP, have you not looked at the other VA approved schools?

yes, unfortunately the last school i visited was ariben. far from impressed. i have heard great things about skymates and i have talked to someone there and they always give me the "any day now we should be approved". Falcon is on my list to.

The VA Vocational Rehab program is paying for my schooling to get FAA cert for dispatcher. I worked as a dispatcher in the Army for 16 years. I can tell you this, the VA whether it be GI Bill or other VA programs will not pay for private pilot license, after you get a PPL they will pay for commercial on the GI Bill. Th VA will help pay for other programs. I need to know what you want and what you are trying to get the VA to pay for. Do you have a disability rating? I have a lot of experience with the VA and have helped a lot of other vets get what they need, I am trying to get things in order to be able to help vets more, I working with my local amvets to become a vet rep through them. I would love to help you out send me an email at douglas.a.bird@us.army.mil and i can try to help you.

It's more of a matter of having the SCHOOL get certified.

The individual can find schools that already are VA approved in the mean time, so I'm not sure how much "individual" help could be provided.
