So SWAPA is asking the DOT to BLOCK this trading of slots by DL and US to allow for a free market? Is it just me or is that doing the opposite of what the free market is?

Well, if you read the article, they say that bringing more competition (only their competition though, not the other 4 airlines) will save consumers 200million a year. Like so many things, it's all from a certain point of view
