Delta to raise baggage fees

That's fine...I'll just bring my oversized and overstuffed rollerboard into the cabin, and when it doesn't fit they can gate check it.

Unfortunately, that's what everyone does, so in reality, all management has done by implementing these various bag fees is make the cabin a complete cluster.

Somewhat non sequitur

What do 121 ops call carryon baggage in terms of weight? Last time I flew, my carryon never got weighed...

Not sure if this is what you're asking, but at US a normal bag is automatically counted as 30lbs. Anything 50lbs to 99lbs is considered 60 lbs, and anything over 100lbs needs to be manually weighed and accounted for in the upload. When I'm putting my numbers in before I push the flight out, DECS automatically accounts for any H tag ons. -In this case, BL is local bags, then if I tag an H onto it, it counts everything in that row as double.

How soon til they're mocked in a SWA commercial? ;)

how long before SWA starts charging?

So true Patrick.

Anyone know where I can obtain some of the orange carry on exempt bag tags for my flight bag. I have occasionally been given crap by gate agents when on a company paid ticket.

Anything in carry-on is part of the passenger weight. Our winter average passenger weight is 195#; summer average is 190#. For checked baggage, from the cockpit perspective, all gate check bags are worth 30#. Other than that, normals (30#) and heavies (60#), are the responsibility of the station to notify us.

It's funny watching people yell and scream about this.

If they didn't select what ticket they bought solely by the lowest fare, then they wouldn't have this.

If we raise ticket prices, they'd be yelling and screaming, too.

lol. Unfortunately, those not in the industry but with ties to those who are think the same. While I was enjoying the weekend with my dad, he complained that it was SOOOO expensive to buy a ticket these days. $406 total with the following itinerary: PHX-DTW-DLH-MSP-PHX..... I mean, you're getting four separate flights.... out of curiosity I priced out a full unrestricted coach fare for the same legs, and it is $2000.
