Delta Throws Pizza Party for Diverted Passengers

Sweet, now I'm late and have a 700 calorie diarrhea-inducing fat-bomb in my gut... but hey, thanks for that $4 perk Delta!

Hate much? At least they made an effort. In this day and age of companies not giving a crap about their customers, Delta reached out and did something for their passengers who were having a crappy day. This is the first "good" press I've seen towards an airline in a very long time.

Good on Delta! That is good publicity, and I'm sure many passengers appreciated the thought. I highly doubt anyone force fed pizza to the unwilling. Flying a privilege and delays come with the territory.

I just think it's sad that "good" press is buying pizza for some passengers.

I'm just happy it's got Delta attached to a good story.

A nice respite from the usual "single employee dicks something up, tarnishes the names of other 80,645 employees" story

How much was the delivery guys tip??
eleventy million

In all seriousness though it fantastic that they went above and beyond for the passengers in TYS. I would be interested to know who's decision that was, station manager, or some one higher up the food chain at the company. In any case this is a small thing that goes a very long way in the way passengers and the public looks at a company. As others have said I think its unfortunate that this is "news" though. People should suck it up and be willing to pay a little more, and the airlines do things like this and improve the "experience" as well. Its a two way street.

Absolutely a nice gesture in a diversion where everybody's getting cranky and wants to get off soon but they aren't even back in the air for round two yet.

On the other hand...

Non-rev on a domestic flight overseas on a cheap ZED pass and they'll apologize at the ticket counter for "possibly not having a meal choice for you since you're a fairly late listing."

Get a slice of pizza on your flight here in the States? Makes the news.

Quite a contrast. o_O
