Delta TA

You appear to be the only one thinking so. I saw the clip. By hell of a speech do you mean him doing his best angry Matt Foley impression?

I was in the sim all day, and the first thing I heard coming out of it was another instructor making fun of it.

"IF YOU TURN THIS DOWN, YOU'RE GOING TO THE P-E-B."

You can't make this stuff up!

After all is the Internet so you'll largely only hear one side of the story. Jr's recap happened to leave out those of us that were clapping in support of Puppy after he made several key points during that awesome speech.

The No voters were there in force but believe it or not they were the minority. I stood in the back and watched the clapping and cheering after emotional speeches littered statements that were factually incorrect.

The No voters are louder, more emotional and determined not to have the result of C2012 happen again. Unfortunately for them I believe 60% of the pilot group can inteprete the facts and using a risk reward analysis see that this is a reasonable deal.

Looking forward to July 10th

Crowd got increasingly restless during sick leave portion, and then when Mike D made his closing remarks he made the mistake of asking the rhetorical questions? "Was this agreement made too quickly? Was it concessionary?" but each time he said no the crowd drowned him out with yesses. It went downhill quickly from there and Mike ended up yelling for about 4 minutes straight. Extremely defensive.

What a jerk, that MikeD

Please quit calling him puppy. You're not in the military and it's really irritating.

Unless Puppy is some really catchy acronym.....then, well, no comment. Just an opinion from the cheap seats. But to that point, to me, once one is out of the mil, the callsign should stay back also, as should anything resembling rank. In my own agency, I have retired Generals who hold high office, and insist on being called General or "the General" still, even though their retired rank...while earned.....has nothing to do with their current position as Assistant Commissioner; and hence, isn't appropriate to be using when in the uniform of the agency. An annoyance I notice all too often. I tend to look at callsigns in the same way. But, that's just me.

None of this changes the fact that you are the only person to report this point of view.

It's odd how it's different from airline to airline. You can't find a single guy at FedEx who still uses his callsign (some won't even tell you what theirs was), but plenty of people in DALPA still go by it. I don't find it irritating, just "unique."

Iceman airline pilot skit SNL comes to mind. I saw a guy that had "Twister" on his leather jacket this spring. I immediately knew how a trip with him would have gone.

Dear Duff ( @Derg ) ,
You're not a young whipper snapper anymore. The elliptical machine is your friend.

Sincerely,
An elliptical operator :)

Agree completely. Had to tone down the running. Want to use my joints later in life without needing one of these to get to the plane.

No surprise there, just like it's hard to find anyone who voted yes. Wait til July 10th.

You keep saying this... you are cocky fresh meat at delta and have no clue what you are talking about. It is very easy to find someone that votes yes around here. It is normally very open discussion and guys are normally quite honest about voting yes or no.

It was like that in the jcba, 2012, and continues to this day.

I was just having a discusion yesterday with several guys. One was open yes, one no, one undecided.

I wasn't aware that it was his callsign. I'm actually pretty good friends with him and his wife.

I keep the "MEC Chairman Donatelli", the "Mike Mike Mike Guess What Today Is?" and "Captain Donatelli" in three individual non-interseciting circles.

A perspective from someone on our crack pipe who is good friends with a Deltoid...

The sick time deal is a bigger deal than ours. The new contract removes the CPO from the conversation at all and has a new independent company verify the absence with a complete diagnosis and treatment evaluation from the doctor. If they do not agree that the diagnosis and treatment are required, the sick leave isn't approved. This isn't a simple doctors note.

Thoughts to our Deltoids?

@ATN_Pilot corrected my wording. There is a percentage of the 20-30% that are abusing the sick time. Statistics prove that.

According to the 2010 US Census, the US population is made up of 50.8% women, and 49.2% men.

Therefore, the average American has 0.98 testes, excluding accidents, birth defects and other illnesses.

Statistics prove that, as well.

It's all about the context.

This is demonstrably false. Just read the language!

You know as well as I do that the Delta MEC has a lot of 'spinsters' who will do what they need to advance their agenda. So to say something is 'demonstrably false' when it deals with the spin the machine is putting on it, I will get views from a variety of positions. Read the Council 1 update. The MEC is wanting the message to be closely guarded.

Post a link to the language, I will read it, but be careful on being played by the Machine here.

One of the major challenges we're having are the factions.

  • Some of the "Yes" votes were "It's a great deal'
  • Some of the "Yes" votes were "Ungh.. ehhh… let the membership ratification have it's way with it"
  • Some of the "No" votes were "It's a bad deal"
  • Some of the "No" votes were "This isn't deserving to move forward in the MEMRAT process".

The MEC chair says "No sell job" but then more or less says it's a good deal in support of the NC.

My contacts on the NC committee are split.

The P2P's are split between saying it's a great deal and selling while others are just getting the details out dispassionately. Word on the street is that some have quit.

The last couple weeks have divided the pilot group, the social media campaign is wrecked, conflicting reports from various councils and I haven't seen this level of frustration and anger since the bankruptcy days.

Again, good leadership says to set the parking brake, assess, re-assess and expand the team, just like we would when we get an ECAM message.

We have an ECAM message. Believe it.

This sounds like something that "the Man" would be pleased with. AKA management?
