You stated it "doesn't involve 100% security checks." That means you don't understand KCM. Which KCM-eligible airline do you work for? I would encourage them to educate your pilot group if what you wrote is what your understanding of KCM is.
Sadly, I likely know more about KCM than anyone else on this forum due to my current interaction with DHS.
The optics are there, though. The public sees crew members not going through security checks. They don't see the Federal interagency process behind it, the interesting role that NATACS has carved for itself, and they certainly don't understand the different between KCM and the various SIDA processes administered by all the different airport authorities.
I predict there will be Congressional testimony on KCM in the very near future.
Oh... and I also fly part-time for a 135 operator with a KCM program.
