Delta Orders 37 Additional A321s

Delta has similar amount of widebodies to the rest of the Legacies. However Delta's has far fewer widebodies that pay the top rate with only 18 777s and 12 747s.

IMO Paybanding the 330, 787, and 767-400 to the 777/747 should be a top priority in negotiations.

I'm all for it but it's a difficult thing to push through in a normal negotiation cycle so it has zero chance of being realized in this TA.

Happy to see you've changed your tune. As @Cav has pointed out, it is a hard and expensive capital item to negotiate and I think it will take a bargaining cycle or two to reach that goal. If. Ore and more pilots get that idea and fill out the surveys the negotiating committee sends out it might happen faster.

Tough position for DL pilots to be in since the 767 and 330 fleets are so large. Hopefully something positive gets worked out

Pay banding also helps the narrow body guys/gals as well.

Frankly our focus should be more on the NB guys because it impacts the largest segment of our population. I'm not just saying that because I am one of them either. I really don't understand the logic behind focusing on WB rates other than it looks good on paper in the headlines. Like it or not the reality is that as a US legacy pilot the bulk of your career earnings and likely career path is earned in the lower 48. Longevity of increased rates has far greater impact on career earning potential than chasing a wage earned in the last waining hours of one's career that may or may not be achieved.

What is pay banding?

In short it is when you tie similar sized aircraft to a single payrate. 747/777/330= $X, 320/737=$Y, etc.

I said in my previous post that it is difficult to negotiate in normal negotiations because there is always a population that feels stagnant. @Seggy will correct me if I am wrong but I believe the banded rates at United were the result of Continental's contract when they were facing bankruptcy. There are advantages and disadvantages of both scales.

FWIW, at least at our place, IMHO, pay banding has really helped out the NB guys as much, if not more as the WB guys.

I am not sure when the Continental pay banding was enacted. It could have been during that time period.

The disadvantages, at least at our place, have turned out to be extremely minimal due to aircraft realignment and new purchases. Yes, it could have swung the other way, but the pay banding really has worked out in our favor and will continue to do so I think (hope).

Agree with you, it will be extremely difficult to get pay banding where you guys/gals are.

There is a definite split on pay banding at SJI. Junior guys are for it, senior guys, not so much. Plus, there is a YOUUG negotiating capital cost associated with it that people are loath to pay.

I don't have any doubt that we'll be NEO operators... as well as perhaps the max (blah).

The 737 Max?

Ungh.
