Delta New Hires Update

Our school house in Atlanta is running at full capacity this summer as the pilot selection process continues. There will be four classes of 50 new hires in June and July. This will bring the total number of new hires who have gone through training so far this year to 472. An additional 13 new hire classes are scheduled to take place beginning in August and running through the end of the year.

American maybe. United has its own hurdles it needs to overcome for hiring. You can only hire as many people that you can train.

Not to worry. There are lots & LOTS of pilots to go around. Delta would be a first choice...for every reason I can think of...but that doesn't mean other carriers will be left hampered in their ability to operate for lack of crews.

And those crews will work out just fine. :cool:

Well, the frustrating part is we never get to see reliable data on that. Anecdotes just aren't reliable.

My source says your schoolhouse is running full tilt now. Can you hold on to those folks...or their senior counterparts... a year or two from now ?

I think we should probably up our hiring at least 50 for the year. If we don't lose that many to attrition this year, we likely will next year. The bad news is all the ones I've heard about leaving are JUNIOR to us.

I flew with more than a few E190 CAs in JFK that still had recall rights to AA. They're planning on going back just before their time runs out.
 
That is great news! Are they hiring any FO's without PIC?

From what I hear they're only looking at people with PIC, hoping that changes soon.

I've been keeping track of this as best I can. As far as I see, no. Perhaps an intern or something but not even close yet. Other than flowthroughs and SSPs there have been almost no civilians. Seems like the ones that have been invited have high GPAs and jet captains. That's just based on what I've read and heard from people involved there.

I would say you are getting a lot of bad info. Hiring has been all over the place. I know a few RJ FOs that have been hired and a good number of CAs. Most of my buddies class was civilian and I know of a few others like his.

Yes they are hiring FOs with no PIC. However, those few individuals hired have either been former interns or type rating scholarship recipients.

However, with the amount of hiring SJI is doing, opportunities will open up for well networked high time RJ FOs very soon.

SouthernJets New hire stats through the end of next month.

576 through July including 105 return to work guys

60/40 Civilian to Military
45% Endeavor
30% Compass
12% Expressjet

569 New Captains since C2012.

72 a month ongoing

Assuming the same out of 72 new hires in a month:


32 are Endeavor "flows"
21 are Compass flows
------------------------------
19 off the street slots
8 are military

11 civ off the street

Flood gates...still not open...

I think AA is about 95% military!!
United is pretty varied, mostly check airman though
