"oh hell, just keep pingin them til they wake up"One ping... One ping only.
Was probably a military charter on top of that.Really the crappiest part of all that is "so...what should we say on the PA?"
Again? Dude this happened to the same airline, and the same airplane about 10 years ago. It's on youtube.
They can't, didn't you see that they're trying to hit Delta up for the fuel bill?Did not know Greece could afford F-16s...
It was.Was probably a military charter on top of that.
In my short stint of flying internationally, I've NEVER called the next countries sector repeatedly and had them not reply for 25 minutes. NEVER. Also, that 1 HF frequency they are using for 14 different countries within 500 miles? Ya, it's super easy to check on when they do that.
I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. NORDO for 18 minutes hardly seems scramble the F-16's worthy. On a civilian plane with a known route.
I think this was around the same time as Egypt air going down. According to one article after intercept there was no response from airplane still. It wasn't until passengers asked, at which time FAs knocked on door and they woke up. Not sure if that's believable or not.In my short stint of flying internationally, I've NEVER called the next countries sector repeatedly and had them not reply for 25 minutes. NEVER.
