Wow, 10-20 years? That's a crazy long time in aviation speak.
In the next 15 years, DL will lose 68 % of the current seniority list to age 65 (their numbers…not mine)…throw in a few medicals…
The annual totals form a bell curve with the peak at the end of 2028 after which they decline year to year but remain considerable for many years post-2028. Can't remember how far out they go...2048 is what pops into my mind but I don't have the numbers on this computer.
And, of course, DL will be competing for talent with AA & UAL who have what appears to be similar circumstances. I see numbers for each of these carriers but can't verify the accuracy; I can for DL.
[Shortage ? Don't know…we should kick that around some time
